Now, a post.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Global warming? WE'RE ALL Gonna die.
Hmm......
This is a good colour scheme I have here. White is hard on the eyes after a while.
If the entire Earth was an artificial alien moving platform, orbiting as it normally would and with stuff growing on it but with an engine instead of a core, would you still love it like you do now? Please rate on a scale from "Yes" to "No" and answer in complete sentences.

Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and lying to cover up those weaknesses isn't going to do any good for anyone. The only possible utopia is one in which everyone can not only live together, but share with each other every aspect of themselves as intimately as they would in the almost fantastically unique case of "true love", but due to everyone's own feelings of insecurity and their insistent censoring of thoughts, their own personal walls stay in place, and their whole closeted, personal sense of the "world" retains intact, and thus, their sense of identity and individuality. Thinking for yourself is not necessarily the same thing as being yourself.

Allergies
2. Foggy headedness, immediately after for up to a few hours - this worsens depending as to how strongly I was reacting before the contact. If I was perfectly healthy, skip this step.
3. Coming Up (or Down?!), anywhere from half an hour to several hours (12+) after exposure, for a few hours (2-5) - a period where I feel very irritable, tense, anxious, and/or insecure, but at the same time I'll also feel somewhat confident and euphoric, but only at the very beginning of the reaction. Of course, the confidence doesn't really make up for the anxiousness, so it's not really apparent. Around this time is also when I'll feel like I really "need" weed, because not only do I know that I'll be getting worse soon, but t
4. Hives, instantly to up to 24 hours after exposure - They'll start as small red dots surrounded by a ring of pale skin. They'll get larger and the paleness will go away over the next few hours. During this time, the irritable and anxious feelings from the transition period will intensify and the euphoria will become totally absent.
5. Rebound, 12+ hours after exposure - Shifting neurotransmitter levels give me a huge range of emotions if the reaction is strong, much less so if it's not, however they're almost always above a somewhat thin layer of annoyance, futility, "sense of impending doom", or anxiousness. Symptoms can include excessive talking, excitement, paranoia, feelings of insecurity, euphoria, difficulty in using memory, difficulty in performing physically demanding tasks, fatigue, lowered stamina, tiredness, apathy, and a bunch of other crap. If you look up "histamine abundance" on Wikipedia, pretty much all of those. Generally, though, an increasingly strong foggy headedness as the reaction goes on, and a decreasingly strong irritability.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until I "finish reacting" and the hives and irritability are no longer climbing. This whole thing can take anywhere from 12 hours to a couple of days. The closer I am to the end, the more tired I'll be, and the more paranoid I'll be of another reaction (obviously). Repeat step 2 if I'm still working out previous reactions.
7. I get my bearings. I get the sense that my body was hibernating, or under attack, or just plain sleeping up until this point, depending as to how long I've been reacting for. Around here I'll notice all the things that need to be done that I haven't, which is sometimes stressing. This step is obviously absent if I get attacked again before this.
Allergies work in waves, depending as to how much I'm reacting to something, building up and up and layering on top. Lately, though, this hasn't been the case, I've been much more under control. Go me.

What is a Blog???
Have a look at the main page of my blog at here for an example. for a different example you might like to look at this one (another of mine).
Ok - now you are a seasoned blog reader - you’ve seen two already at least.
Blogs are usually (but not always) written by one person and are updated pretty regularly. Blogs are often (but not always) written on a particular topic - there are blogs on virtually any topic you can think of. From photography, to spirituality, to recipes, to personal diaries to hobbies - blogging has as many applications and varieties as you can imagine. Whole blog communities have sprung up around some of these topics putting people into contact with each other in relationships where they can learn, share ideas, make friends with and even do business with people with similar interests from around the world.
Blogs usually have a few features that are useful to know about if you want to get the most out of them as a reader. Lets examine a couple briefly.
Archives - You might look at the front page of a blog and think that there is not much to them. A few recent entries, some links to other sites and not much else. However its worth knowing that there is a lot more going on under the surface that might initially meet the eye. For example in addition to the main page of this blog - at the time of writing this post there are over 520 other pages or posts below the surface that I’ve written over the past few months.
When I write a post like this one it goes to the top of the front page. As it gets older and as I add more current posts it begins its journey down the page until it disappears from it. This is not the end of its life however, because it goes into the 'Archives' of my blog. It sounds like a dusty dark place but its really just like a filing cabinet that is easily accessible in a couple of ways. You can read my ‘archives’ simply by looking on the ’sidebar’ (over on the left of this blog) at the ‘archives’ or ‘categories’ section. There you will see links to all my old posts which you can access either by category. You’ll see a category for ‘Advertising’ - click that link and you’ll see all my old posts on the topic of Advertising with the most recent at the top and the oldest at the bottom.
Comments - Not all blogs use comments - but most do. This blog is not a monologue but a conversation. You can give me feedback on almost everything I write simply by clicking the ‘comments’ link at the bottom of each one of my posts. This will take you to a little form where you leave your name, email and a link to your own blog if you have one as well as your feedback, comment, critique, question, essay on why you love my blog, promise of money…. etc). Try it now. Scroll to the bottom of this page, click ‘comments’ and fill in the blanks with a little introduction to yourself.
A great way to learn about blogs is to read a few. Leave some comments, ask questions and bookmark your favourites. An even better way to learn about blogs is to start your own. Ok - you might be laughing at me now - you think you are not web savy enough to have your own site? You wouldn’t know where to start? You don’t know how?
My Secret
Let me share a secret with you - three years ago I knew nothing about blogs, I had never used the internet for anything more than email, surfing and chatting to friends and I could only barely do any of that! But one day I discovered a blog and after surfing from one to another (blogs tend to link up to other blogs a lot) for a few hours I was hooked and wanted to start my own. I found that there are free blog services that almost anyone could set up in a matter of minutes. Really it is that simple. Literally millions of people blog from around the world. Its not just something for young people, or geeks, or cool folk, or Westerners, or even for people with their own computers - instead its something virtually anyone with access to a computer and the internet once or twice a week can start up.
Are you still confused? Would you like more information? Below are a few helpful articles on the topic - there are many more on the web - just do a search on your favourite search engine. Otherwise shoot me an email using my ‘contact’ button with your question and I’ll do my best to get back to you.
Rebecca Blood has written a helpful history of blogging for those who are interested in learning more about the blogging evolution over the past few years.
Harvard Law has a helpful article titled What makes a Weblog a Weblog
Trudy Schuett writes a good article title What is a blog and why do we need one?

What is a Blog?
So what is a Blog anyway? This is a question I am asked every week via emails, conversation and Instant Messaging chats. If you’re reading this you may well be asking the same question.
There are a number of ways I could answer this question ranging from the broad to the highly technical.
Here are a few definitions from other much wiser people to get us started:
‘A weblog is a hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser.’ Source
‘A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links.’ Source
‘From “Web log.” A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.”‘ Source
‘A weblog is kind of a continual tour, with a human guide who you get to know. There are many guides to choose from, each develops an audience, and there’s also comraderie and politics between the people who run weblogs, they point to each other, in all kinds of structures, graphs, loops, etc.’ Source
‘A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in cronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominantly.’ Source
‘A blog is a website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order. The term blog is a shortened form of weblog or web log. Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called “blogging”. Individual articles on a blog are called “blog posts,” “posts” or “entries”. A person who posts these entries is called a “blogger”. A blog comprises text, hypertext, images, and links (to other web pages and to video, audio and other files). Blogs use a conversational style of documentation. Often blogs focus on a particular “area of interest”, such as Washington, D.C.’s political goings-on. Some blogs discuss personal experiences.’ Source.

Some reasons why God doesn't exist
* Junk DNA
* Allergies
* The pile of spaghetti code that is the brain. Seriously, if you know anything about it at all you know what I mean. It's not exactly efficient.
* The appendix. Sure, it plays a role in the immune system or whatever, but if you're more or less exactly the same without it as you are with it, then God's obviously a big jerk.
* Tailbone. I don't care if your ass would fall apart if we didn't have it, you can't tell me that that's the best possible way to keep it together.
* This website
* The part about religious people all believing different things and all of them being wrong
* Scam artists not being struck down by lightning
* Everyone else who deserves it not being struck down by lightning
* Cocaine is a plant that God intended for us to use
* Allergies again, because seriously, what the hell
* Everyone having different ideas as to what constitutes something being "clean" or "unclean"
* Everything I've ever learned in Biology
* This book
* If God made the universe, then where did God come from (and don't tell me that "God has always been" because that's no different than saying "the universe has always been")
* Relying on faith in a god is no different than relying on faith in astrology or numerology or in the lottery
* There's absolutely no good reason to believe in a god
* It doesn't make any sense
* Seriously, what's wrong with you people

Now, what to post about........
Doot doot doo de doo
Here, watch these videos from the Singularity Summit, most of them are pretty good.
I could also talk about the annoyance of using this nub thing as a mouse, but that's boring (I am using a laptop). However what I could do is link to this comic.
xkcd is kind of annoying sometimes but it does have a pretty good number of good comics, like this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one. (Fun fact: all of those except the last one I linked to while I was trying to find the laptop nub one.)
I guess that's all for now

More War on Drugs crap
Here's a part I like:
A WARNING of the prohibitionists is that there's no going back once we reverse course and legalize drugs. But what the reforms in Europe and Australia demonstrate is that our choices are not all or nothing. Virtually all the steps described above represent modest and relatively low-risk initiatives to reduce drug and prohibition-related harms within our current prohibition regime. At the same time, these steps are helpful in thinking through the consequences of more far-reaching drug-policy reform. You don't need to go for formal legalization to embark on numerous reforms that would yield great dividends. But these run into opiaphobia*.
The blame is widespread. Cowardly Presidents, unwilling to assume leadership for reform. A Congress so concerned with appearing tough on crime that it is unwilling to analyze alternative approaches. A drug czar who debases public debate by equating legalization with genocide. A drug enforcement/treatment complex so hooked on government dollars that the anti-drug crusade has become a vested interest.
But perhaps the worst offender is the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration -- not so much the agents who risk their lives trying to apprehend major drug traffickers as the ideologically driven bureaucrats who intimidate and persecute doctors for prescribing pain medication in medically appropriate (but legally suspicious) doses, who hobble methadone programs with their overregulation, who acknowledge that law enforcement alone cannot solve the drug problem but then proceed to undermine innovative public-health initiatives.
I am often baffled by the resistance of conservatives to drug-policy reform, but encouraged by the willingness of many to reassess their views once they have heard the evidence. Conservatives who oppose the expansion of federal power cannot look approvingly on the growth of the federal drug-enforcement bureaucracy and federal efforts to coerce states into adopting federally formulated drug policies. Those who focus on the victimization of Americans by predatory criminals can hardly support our massive diversion of law-enforcement resources to apprehending and imprisoning nonviolent vice merchants and consumers. Those concerned with overregulation can hardly countenance our current handling of methadone, our refusal to allow over-the-counter sale of sterile syringes, our prohibition of medical marijuana. And conservatives who turn to the Bible for guidance on current affairs can find little justification there for our war on drugs and the people who use and sell them.

BioEnergetic Intolerance Elimination
BIE is a powerful new scientific approach that uses a simple and effective method to radically eliminate all symptoms of allergy or intolerance without the use of drugs.
Based on an ancient Chinese belief that energy runs through the body in pathways called “meridians” acupuncture is now a widely recognized health related modality. It is through these bio-energetic meridians that the brain and nervous system receive information about the state and functioning of the body as a whole. Modern electro magnetic imaging devices and radioactive tracer isotopes have confirmed the presence of these pathways.
A lightweight hand held device is used to transmit a low electronic frequency (5 microamp) directly onto various acupuncture points (without the use of needles) on the body to stimulate and clear any blockages in energy. During this procedure the client is exposed to the allergenic substance in glass vials. While the blockages are clearing, the body’s cells are literally being reprogrammed to recognize the allergen’s frequency. When this non-invasive and painless procedure is complete, the body will no longer see the allergen or intolerance as a threat when exposed to it, therefore no longer producing any adverse reactions.
Sounds too good to be true, right? And yet, it's not. The receptionist at the chiropractor's office I went to, which was also, coincidentally, where the treatment sessions took place, was cured from her asthma in a single session, and cured completely from her environmental allergies over four sessions, and I heard about another kid who was cured from his anaphylaxis to peanuts over a six month or so span. That's incredibly impressive! But even still, I was skeptical, right up until I started getting treated for my allergies. Over the course of a few months I've been cleared of allergies that I've had for nearly my entire life. I'm eating eggs again, which I haven't been able to do since I was 5 years old, I can smell the grass clippings from lawnmowers without gagging, and so forth, and yet every word of it sounds like bullshit.
During a session, I'll lie down, and an allergen will be put on my abdomen. Then, this metallic/plastic electronic contraption will be placed on certain points across my body: four across the bridge of my nose, with two spots on each side, one spot on each big toe, one spot on each little tow, and one spot roughly in the middle of the upper portion of each foot, whatever that's called. Now, another baffling point here is that the allergen can be inside several layers of plastic, glass, whatever, it doesn't matter, so long as it's touching me. I asked my allergist why this works, and she said that it's because the vibrations pass through it anyway, but this doesn't make any sense at all to me. For one thing, how do you define a vibration in something such as a banana, secondly, why would a banana be setting off vibrations, thirdly, how does an electric charge "clear my meridians" and let me be able to eat them again, and fourthly, how does it pass through plastic? Maybe I just need to read up on some quantum physics, I don't know.
If I start buying into vibrations, then I'll have to buy a grounding stone for next time I meditate, and if I start buying into energetic pathways, I'm going to need a crystal to align my chakras.

Pot makes you hungry
What stellar logic we have here! I mean, it's Schedule I, so it's obviously dangerous, unlike the lower schedules. It was probably put there for a good reason. Besides, we don't need marijuana because we have other drugs that do the same thing. I mean, real medicine is safer and more effective than smoking anyway. Furthermore, with medical marijuana, we'd have all sorts of people getting high for every condition, right? And that'd just be dangerous. We can't
let that happen.
Let me put this another way.
Marijuana is a Schedule I drug, with no medical use.
Marinol is a Schedule III drug, with medical use.
Marinol is THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

The Gateway Drug Theory is really retarded
I probably look like a big dumbie to the two or three people who clicked on my link from that one d00d's blog, just copying and pasting like that, but this is my blog and these are my rules... if u don't like it u can F#@* OFF!!!
In retrospect I have no idea why I put this down as my site when I commented. Maybe, deep down, I just want people to notice me?
[17:11] <dave2away> i think the gateway drug thing is pretty true
[17:11] <Fungahhh> why
[17:12] <dave2away> well maybe you're right though
[17:12] <Fungahhh> yeah, i am
[17:12] <dave2away> people who choose to use marijuana are more likely to use other drugs
[17:12] <Fungahhh> marijuana doesn't MAKE you want to do harder drugs
[17:12] <dave2away> if I forced somebody to smoke pot they probably wouldn't be like "now for LSD!"
[17:12] <dave2away> no, I know
[17:12] <Fungahhh> you don't get bored of the high, and seek stronger things, like heroin
[17:13] <dave2away> but I do think that if I hadn't started smoking pot I wouldn't be asking you to mail me LSD
[17:13] <Fungahhh> if you're interested in drugs to begin with you'll probably start with marijuana! or alcohol, but that's legal, so who cares
[17:13] <Fungahhh> well, ok
[17:13] <Fungahhh> i guess it does give you a sort of taste for the psychedelic experience
[17:14] <Fungahhh> my gateway drug was dxm
[17:14] <dave2away> i think it's unfair to say either way "yes it is" or "not it isn't"
[17:14] <Fungahhh> well, ok, it CAN happen, but so can every drug to every other related drug
[17:14] <Fungahhh> it's incredibly stupid to single out marijuana
[17:15] <dave2away> not really, because marijuana is so easy to get and pretty cheap and pretty acceptable and not very dangerous
[17:15] <dave2away> it's a pretty good starting point
[17:15] <Fungahhh> right, well, that's a coincidence
[17:15] <Fungahhh> dxm made me want to try mushrooms
[17:15] <dave2away> hence it's popularity
[17:15] <Fungahhh> the marijuana just kind of happened along the way
[17:16] <Fungahhh> actually i think it was only like, a week before
[17:16] <Fungahhh> but anyway
[17:16] <dave2away> your argument would be a lot stronger if you weren't such a druggie yourself
[17:16] <Fungahhh> you can't really make the gateway drug argument for tobacco and alcohol because there aren't really any drugs like them
[17:16] <Fungahhh> right, well, that just makes me more knowledgeable, right?
[17:17] <Fungahhh> i mean sleeping pills are a lot like alcohol, but who the hell would jump to those after getting drunk
[17:17] <dave2away> it makes you a perfect example of the contrary to your argument
[17:17] <Fungahhh> it doesn't make anything i've said any less true
[17:17] <dave2away> just more ironic
[17:17] <dave2away> anyway though
[17:17] <Fungahhh> well, sure, but that's beside the point
[17:18] <dave2away> it's very difficuly to say WHY people do things
[17:18] <dave2away> but we can say "oh, person did drug A, then did drug B"
[17:18] <dave2away> maybe they didn't do drug B BECAUSE they did drug A
[17:18] <dave2away> but regardless
[17:18] <Fungahhh> no, i know why people do it... but it's still dumb
[17:19] <dave2away> really? you know why people move on to other drugs?
[17:19] <dave2away> why every person does?
[17:19] <Fungahhh> also, saying that what i'm saying is wrong or whatever because i'm a druggie is like saying erowid is wrong because they're all druggies, which a lot of people do
[17:19] <Fungahhh> no i meant, why people use the gateway theory
[17:19] <dave2away> i'm not saying you're wrong! i'm just saying you're hilarious
[17:19] <Fungahhh> fair enough

Acidophilus makes you hungry
One example that comes to mind is acidophilus. Because a) it's marketed as a supplement rather than a medicine, and b) it's not necessary, in the same sense that an antibiotic is necessary to flush out an infection, or morphine is necessary to help deal with pain, it's simply not used in hospitals, despite clear and obvious advantages to its use.
Antibiotics do this thing where they kill off helpful bacteria as well as harmful bacteria. The most pronounced effect of this is in the GI tract, and in fact it's very common for people after going through a long haul with antibiotics will have a lowered appetite, lowered immune system, etc., and there's no doubt that acidophilus can help with this. While it's routinely recommended in some countries it's really not as mainstream it should be (at least in Canada).
I feel like going into this in more depth but I'm getting foggy headed again so I'll save this for later.
House of Leaves
I hate phenylephrine
I tried using this stuff recently and it literally did nothing at all to help my congestion. In fact, I didn't notice any effects of any kind. But, I suppose that's the price we have to pay, to keep meth off of our streets.
I took more later and DID notice an effect beyond placebo, but its ability as a decongestant is pretty terrible. Buy oxymetazoline instead. It's not particularly great either but it's better than this crap (the stuff I was complaining about a couple of posts down).

The thing that gets me about this ad isn't just that it's laughably horrible, it's that it WORKS. Flashy colours, big text, and feelings of inferiority ARE enough to push someone into getting a Mercury account.

Frist psot
Don't expect me to update this with any sort of regularity, I'll just add to it whenever I feel compelled to, inbetween my usual bouts of allergic foggy headed muddy itchy irritable crap.
